Upload a report
Upload a processor/vendor file for a given month — pick the source, report type, and period, drop the file, and let SplitRun parse it.
Uploading is the core of the monthly routine: for each data source, drop in the month's file and SplitRun parses it merchant by merchant, then applies your rules automatically.
Steps
- Go to Data. Either click Upload next to a configured source, or click an empty (✗) cell in the coverage grid for the source + month you want.
- Confirm the three selections:
- Vendor — the data source you're uploading for.
- Report type — which layout this file is (e.g. Visa, Mastercard, Rental). Only relevant if the source has more than one.
- Period — the month the data covers, as
YYYY-MM(e.g.2026-05).
- Drop the file into the upload zone (or click to browse). CSV and Excel (
.xlsx,.xls) are accepted. If it's a multi-sheet Excel, pick the sheet. - SplitRun shows Parsing file…, then confirms the result.
That's it. Repeat for each data source you receive a report from that month.
First upload of a new report type
If SplitRun doesn't yet know this report's layout, it opens the column mapper so you can tell it which columns hold the Merchant ID, Merchant Name, Total Profit, Revenue, etc. You only do this once per report type — after that the mapping is reused automatically. See Map report columns.
If the source reports in a different currency
If the source's currency differs from your reporting currency, SplitRun asks for the exchange rate for that period (a required house rate and an optional commission rate). You can save it so future months of the same source reuse it. See Reporting currency.
Re-uploading / replacing a month
If a file already exists for the same source, period, and report type, SplitRun asks what you intend:
- Replace — the new file supersedes the old one (the old import is marked Replaced but kept for audit). Use this when you received a corrected file.
- Add as new income type — keep both, treating the new file as a separate revenue stream for that month.
After uploading
- New merchants and affiliates won't earn until assigned. Uploading brings in the data; assigning tells SplitRun who gets paid. Review matches and assign anything new — see Assign an agent and Affiliates as agents.
- Calculation runs automatically thanks to effective-dated rates. If you changed configuration, you may be prompted to recalculate — see Recalculating commissions.
- Check statuses in Import history: parsed (✓), error (✗), or pending.
Tip: load a couple of months
When you're validating a new setup, upload two months rather than one. Comparing them side by side in the Payroll Summary is the fastest way to confirm the configuration is right — and to tell a real problem apart from a one-off data error in a single month.
