Rename labels for your business
Customize the words SplitRun uses (Merchant, Agent, Data Source, etc.) to match your industry, via an industry preset or per-label overrides.
SplitRun lets you rename the things it tracks so the app speaks your language — Merchant vs Account vs Client, Agent vs Sales Rep, Data Source vs Processor, and so on. Changing labels is purely cosmetic; it never affects any calculation.
Set an industry preset
- Go to Settings → Labels.
- In Industry Type, pick the type that best matches your business.
- Click Apply preset to fill in that industry's standard terminology in one go.
The preset is a starting point — you can then fine-tune individual words.
Customize individual labels
In Customize Labels, each entity has a field showing its default as placeholder text. Type an override to change it; leave it blank to keep the default. Click Save Labels. The new wording appears throughout the app (navigation, tables, reports).
Common labels you can change include: agent/agents, merchant/accounts, data source/vendor, total profit, total revenue, net revenue, and the deduction type names (affiliate, partner).
Good to know
- Cosmetic only. Renaming Merchant to Account changes the word everywhere but not a single number.
- This guide uses defaults. Throughout this knowledge base we use SplitRun's default names and note common alternatives — see Key concepts & glossary. If your screen shows different words, they map one-to-one to the concepts here.
- Reports follow your labels too, so statements you send out use your vocabulary.
