Your monthly workflow
The recurring month-end routine — upload each source's file, check what matched, verify with the Payroll Summary, then lock & publish.
Once your account is configured, running a month is a short, repeatable routine. This page is the map; each step links to the detailed guide.
The payoff: with setup done, a normal month is roughly 10–15 minutes instead of hours. Most of that time is spent checking the results, not producing them.
The five steps
1. Upload each source's file for the month
For every data source, open its Upload action, pick the period (e.g. 2026-05), and drop in the file. SplitRun parses it automatically. Repeat for each processor/vendor. → Upload a report
2. Let it calculate
Because your commission and deduction rates carry effective dates, SplitRun applies them to the new month automatically. If you changed any configuration, it prompts you to recalculate from the right period. Wait for the calculation to finish before trusting the numbers. → Recalculating commissions
3. Check what matched (and what didn't)
New merchants, new affiliates, or unassigned accounts won't earn correctly until they're assigned. Review the imports and the per-agent breakdowns to catch anything unmatched, and assign it. → Assign an agent · Affiliates as agents
4. Verify the numbers
The fastest sanity check is the Payroll Summary report — one page showing every agent's commission, override, and affiliate/partner earnings. Go agent by agent and confirm each is right; when something's off, drill in to find whether it's the override, the affiliate, or the base. Verifying two months side by side is the best way to build confidence. → The Payroll Summary · Verifying your numbers
5. Lock & publish
When the numbers are final, lock & publish the period. Locking freezes the month; publishing makes each agent's final statement visible to them (and can email their PDF). Until you publish, agents don't see work-in-progress numbers. → Lock & publish a period
First time through vs. every time after
- The first time, most of the effort is verification — confirming the configuration produces the right payouts for a known month. Expect to find a few merchants or affiliates that need assigning.
- Every month after, you're mostly just doing steps 1–2 and a quick step 4. New reps, new rates, and new affiliate deals are the only reasons to touch the setup pages.
If something looks wrong
Start with My numbers look wrong — it walks through the usual causes (unassigned account, wrong base, missing effective date, a fee not entered for the month).
